Who we are
Rhonda Russell Henderson is an accomplished educator, literacy advocate, and President of the Caribbean Athletic and Education Cooperative (CAEC).
Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Rhonda began her journey in education over 27 years ago, fueled by a deep belief in the power of reading and equity in learning.
She holds two master's degrees-one in Reading and the other in Educational Leadership-both of which have shaped her dynamic career as a teacher, coach, and systems-level leader.
Rhonda's professional mission has always centered on opening doors for underrepresented students, and her work spans from classrooms to colleges, always with a focus on literacy, access and culturally grounded mentorship.
Inspired by her connection to the island of Puerto Rico and a passion for building educational and athletic bridges she launched CAEC to create spaces where sports, education, and culture could meet
the HBCU Puerto rico college football bowl, the caec’s flagship event, is a groundbreaking initiative that brings Historically Black Colleges and Universities to the island - celebrating Caribbean excellence, promoting college
