How CAEC Gives Back

Our Mission in Action

CAEC (Caribbean Athletic & Education Cooperative) uses the power of sports to open doors to literacy, learning, and life opportunities across Puerto Rico. We build pathways from the classroom to the field to college—so every young person can see what’s possible.

What We Do

Literacy & College Access

  • Run reading initiatives, book drives, and student toolkits that make literacy engaging and fun.

  • Partner with schools to host HBCU info sessions and college-readiness activities.

  • Connect students to mentors who help with goal-setting, study skills, and next steps after high school.

Youth Sports Development

  • Launch safe, structured youth leagues (including the Northwest Puerto Rico Pee Wee Football Alliance).

  • Teach teamwork, leadership, and discipline through year-round skills clinics and camps.

  • Keep “books before ball” at the center—academics always come first.

Community Engagement

  • Host the HBCU Puerto Rico Bowl and family-friendly Field Day that unify schools, churches, and neighborhoods.

  • Elevate local culture and talent with performances, vendor spaces, and volunteer opportunities.

  • Work side-by-side with municipalities, chambers of commerce, and community groups.

Economic Impact

  • Drive tourism and game-day spending that supports local restaurants, shops, and vendors.

  • Prioritize partnerships with small and Black-/Brown-owned businesses.

  • Attract sponsorships that stay in the community and expand youth programming.

Why It Matters

When students read more, meet mentors, and experience high-character teams, they build confidence—and communities thrive. CAEC links athletics to academics so young people can see college as a real, reachable goal.
